End view showing knotwork design from the book of Kells I think . I built the sewing box and then carved it using traditional carving tools .This design is one royal pain in the butt . You can find similar designs that don't have the weak joint/hinge point at the top . The design is based on a medieval reliquary . But it turned out there are sewing boxes that look much like it .

I think I remember it taking about a month to a month and a half , I built the sewing box as well as carving it .

Thanks , you would be amazed what you can do if you just try .I started carving after I saw a TV show on how to carve . " I thought to myself I bet I could do a better job myself ." ;-)
